Rincones que enamoran/ Corners to fall in love

Pictures taken from its blog

When living in the U.K you only have three different options. First, be a follower of that British Cottage Style which brings to the top of our minds the tartan plaid, the gentleman with his hat and finally the famous around the world, Union Jack Flag. Second option, is to become a grunge and underground fan, quite common up here. Or in the third place, but first for me, fall in love with the less known around the world British Shabby Style, that has got a romantic taste but also a bit messy . Doubtless it makes you feel like the quiet main character of a fairy tale movie. A little bit of everything and a little bit of nothing, feeling like in the midway between your grannies home and the Museum of Lost-and-Found treasures. British people have an eager eye to pick up things that are redundant and give them the perfect place.
As an example of this style, a place that owns a little corner of my heart as I time ago I was a member of the "family", a small cafe in Lewes (East Sussex), which lives hidden in the yard of the Antiques Shop. The Buttercup Cafe is an amazing cosy space where the owner and her team help everybody to feel like home.

Úsame, Reúsame/ Use Me, Re-Use Me

After my last post, all glamour and style,  I wanted to change 180º the direction and fancy to write about a   new trend, not only respectful with the nature but also disruptive with the traditional idea of a piece of furniture.
Beds that one day were scaffoldings, plastic bottles that have become to really nice sculptures, recycle wood to cover walls and to make very stylish sofas, girls from ÚSAME have been able to build up things from stuff which was consider rubbish for the rest of the world. A nice and original way to decorate houses and shops or offices, at the same time that you can proudly use the archi-popular label of ECO-FRIENDLY.
The interior Designer Esther López Aguilar and Art Director Marisol González are the owners of this great idea with the main aim of giving a 2nd opportunity in life to those things that have already done the tasks they were created for. A generous attitude to the object lives  lead us to a full-of-history and special collection of furniture.

Esos locos años 20/ The crazy 20's

Last weekend, we were invited to a 20's 30's party. Until I was told to go dressed up in the proper way, the only image that was in my mind was this one:

Famosa litografía de la época/ Famous lithography from the 30's:

After that illustration which brings to the top of our minds something that almost everyone can recognise, one of the biggest treasures from Art Decó Style, is it familiar for you?

Empire State Building-New York

Photographies collection, a good sample of that times style and glamour:

But not only photography and art provoke a great impression from the 20's and 30's, following I have chosen some of the jewels that definitely, have grabbed my attention and love:

Though with no doubt, from 20's-30's the thing I would highlight the most, because its different look, its precious details and because of Hollywood industry has always sell them as a example of extremely feminine style I choose the dresses that all the girls dream about having them on their wardrobe.

MY FAVOURITE
Finally, and because this is more about interior design than anything else, some pictures of nowadays houses that are clearly inspire by the main character of todays:  CRAZY 20's

Bolas del Mundo/ Globes

MY OWN TREASURE!
Miss A. Globe

I was always attracted by them, since I was a little girl my astonish sight was always staring at them. Miniatures (or maybe not that much) of an unbelievable massive place, plenty of mysterious, unknown and remote places. A fascinating object which was invented to learn geography but also which is able to give an adorable look to every little corner of your place. Do you remember being an amazed child with his bright globe, THE EARTH.
Nowadays, there are thousands of antiquarians who collect them, unique pieces with amazing stories behind. It couldn't be in other way, I also have my own treasure, a German Globe from the 50's, a really special present which have a really special place in my house and in my life. It will travel with me to every place I move. Germany, Spain, now UK..who knows if somewhere else in the future..a planet which travels around itself. Curious, don't you think?
